PhilCare: One step closer to making quality health care affordable to Filipinos

2013-04-15

EXCITING PARTNERSHIP. Shown during the contract signing marking the partnership between PhilCare and Banco de Oro Insurance Brokers (BDOI) are (from L to R): Mr. Roberto Z. Arroyo, Senior Vice President for Sales & Marketing; Mr. Jaeger L. Tanco, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer (EVP & COO); Ms. Ma. Theresa Tracy L. Tan, Senior Vice President & General Manager for BDOI and Mr. Jose Romeo Japa Gavio, AVP & Unit Head for Consumer 3 for BDOI.

Promising to deliver affordable quality health care to Filipinos, PhilhealthCare, Inc. (PhilCare) has just recently forged partnership with BDO Insurance Brokers, Inc. (BDOI) to make its Health Buddy Cards more accessible to consumers. Under the agreement, BDOI paves the way for PhilCare's Health Buddy Cards to be available at SM malls within Metro Manila.

Health Buddy Cards are PhilCare prepaid cards that cover one's basic health maintenance requirements. It removes the hassles of monthly fees and underwriting approvals, which will allow one to focus on just keeping himself healthy. For as low as Php 499 or Php 999, consumers can either choose to purchase either the Yearly Health Examination Service (YHES) Card that provides basic annual physical examination package and discount privileges or the more comprehensive card called WeCare Card which offers medical consultations, discount offerings, and personal accident insurance with income benefit.

This partnership is another milestone for PhilCare. Step by step, we are delivering our commitment of making quality health care affordable to Filipinos. Now, having our Health Buddy Cards in SM prepaid kiosks makes the cards more accessible to consumers, said Jaeger L. Tanco, PhilCare Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Operating Officer (COO).

In a report last March 2012, the Association of Health Maintenance Organizations of the Philippines (AHMOPI) shared that there are only three million members for all AHMOPI HMO member organizations1.

We want to encourage every Juan to make his health a priority. With the prepaid health cards now within their reach, we do hope that consumers will take action and make this priority a reality, added Tanco.

Miss Tracy Tan, Senior Vice President & General Manager of BDOI shared, This partnership is testaments to our commitment of helping Filipinos achieve their goals. With the availability of the Health Buddy Cards in SM malls, we are one with PhilCare in encouraging Filipinos to make their health a part of their goals. We are once again empowering our patrons with the option and a route to secure their health.

The PhilCare Health Buddy Cards will initially be available at the following SM branches: Mall of Asia, Megamall, Sucat, Southmall, Cubao, Bicutan, Makati, Centerpoint, Manila, Harrison, Quiapo, San Lazaro, North EDSA, Fairview, Marikina and Novaliches.

To know more about PhilCare's Health Buddy Cards, visit www.philcare.com.ph or visit the participating SM branches to avail of your own Health Buddy Card.
