STI posts record
enrolment as senior HS
drives student
population past 100,000-mark
A total of 96,279 students were enrolled in STI Education
Services Group (STI ESG) campuses, while 6,073 were from the STI West Negros
University (WNU). iACADEMY, meanwhile, attracted 1,375 students.
The enrollment received a tremendous boost from the high
turnout of senior high school (SHS) enrolleesââ¬âa total of 39,206 studentsââ¬âdespite
the decrease in the number of enrollees for its colleges because of the full
implementation of the K to 12 program.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, STI
Holdings said the K to 12 program was expected to pose a threat to colleges and
universities as this essentially adds two years prior to tertiary education. This
means that colleges face two years with almost no freshmen students. STI ESG,
however, managed to constructively convert the threat to an opportunity as it
applied for and was subsequently granted permit to offer SHS programs in all of
its 76 schools. Similar permits were also granted to iACADEMY and STI WNU.
STI Holdings attributes the popularity of its SHS programs
to STI ESGââ¬â¢s strong partnership with the Department of Education to help more
incoming Grade 11 students get quality and affordable education.
ââ¬ÅSTI ESG collaborated with DepEd and conducted career
guidance and orientation seminars for Grade 10 students in various public and
private high schools nationwide,ââ¬Â STI Holdings said.
STI ESG also developed a tool, called the Studentââ¬â¢s Career
Opportunity and Personality Evaluator or SCOPE, which electronically analyzes incoming
Senior High studentsââ¬â¢ individual strengths, interests, and personality, to help
them determine which track to take for their education.
ââ¬ÅThese intensive marketing efforts during the early
registration period and its sustained marketing activities bore fruit with the
total SHS enrollment reaching 39,206 students at the start of SY 2016-2017,ââ¬Â
STI Holdings said.
The increase in the number of enrollments also yielded
positive results for STI Holdings as it posted gross revenues of P415.9 million
for the three months ending June 30, 2016ââ¬âa slight improvement of P1 million
from same period last year of P414.9 million.
The three months leading to June 30, 2016 represent STI
Holdingsââ¬â¢ first quarter performance as the company follows an April to March
fiscal year mirroring that of an academic cycle in the Philippines, since bulk
of its income comes from its education services.
