If there is one thing that HMO PhilhealthCare, Inc. (PhilCare) has learned in its 30 years in the industry, it's the importance of preventive health care and how inextricably linked it is to overall health.
The company, known for its efficient and reliable service, has always believed that its responsibility to its clients goes beyond providing exceptional service when a member is sick. Its commitment extends to ensuring that its members stay healthy.
To do this, PhilCare ensures that its members have access to the best health care facilities. PhilCare currently maintains a wide network of 700 hospitals and clinics, plus 14,000 affiliated physicians of different specializations across the country. PhilCare currently owns and operates five clinics situated in the following key cities: Makati, Mandaluyong, Manila, Quezon City and Cebu.
More importantly, PhilCare has always tried to live up to its name: PhilCare employing a team of liaison officers whose main responsibility is to ensure that members are exceptionally taken care of during their hospital stay, and a team of account management officers who ensure that servicing and day-to-day administrative concerns of clients are properly addressed. This personal yet professional hands-on approach throughout the whole organization is credited for the company's 90% retention rate among clients.
Following its acquisition by STI Investments, Inc. three years ago, the company started aggressively promoting its commitment to preventive health care by introducing new variants of prepaid health cards called Health Buddy  namely: YHE  which offers an annual physical examination package and WeCare for health consultation needs. This year, PhilCare offers a new set of prepaid health cards, after recognizing the need to provide exceptional health care to every Filipino. Currently, each new health card variant offers a unique mix of diagnostic procedures, targeted at specific types of patients with specific needs. The Bundled Packages, as they are called, are far more affordable than when the included procedures would be availed ala carte at PhilCare clinics. When you consider that walk-in rates at PhilCare clinics are already relatively affordable, this means big savings.
In addition to the procedures, the cards also entitle bearers to considerable discounts on physician consultations and other procedures offered at PhilCare clinics. Bundled Packages are perfect for the self-employed or under-employed who either cant afford comprehensive HMO coverage, or who feel membership fees are too steep considering they are actually already in good health
Currently, PhilCare is also expanding its series of health and wellness activities dubbed Treat Me Right (TMR). TMR is held throughout the year and offered for free among PhilCare members, covering traditional wellness activities such as wellness cooking lessons and Zumba classes, and more unconventional wellness-related activities such as photography lessons.
The company believes that while physical fitness and good nutrition are definitely pillars of wellness, they cannot complete the wellness picture without other aspects. The physical, emotional and mental aspects of our lives are bound together that each can have a positive or negative impact on others. This is why the wellness activities PhilCare provides for its members cover as many of the three aspects as possible.
PhilCare has been under new management since 2009, but the experience of the past thirty years is intact, as the company has always strived to maintain its high standards of service. Today's PhilCare is more flexible, more responsive, and more eager to apply the expertise gained over the last 30 years.
